Types of Climbing

We offer 3 types of rock climbing in our center that can accommodate many skill levels!

Bouldering

Ages 12 and up – No prerequisites required

Whether you wish to tackle hard moves or just have a good time, we have challenging problems for you.

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing done on shorter walls without the use of ropes or harnesses—a great way to get accustomed to heights.

As a side benefit, you don’t need a partner or have to wait for turns (but it’s very enjoyable in groups!).

Our 14 ft-high walls (4.2 m) are paired with thick bouldering mats to catch your falls and keep you safe.

Top Rope

Ages 12 and up to belay – Accreditation required

Top rope climbing is a great way for new climbers to experience climbing taller walls with the safety of climbing gear such as harnesses and belay devices.

This type of climbing requires a belay partner, someone who has passed their accreditation.

New climbers do not require an accreditation to climb, however, you do require an accreditation to belay.

For more information on accreditations, please visit our accreditation page.

Lead

Ages 14 and up – Accreditation required

Lead climbing is typically for experienced climbers who are able to climb more difficult routes.

In lead climbing, the rope remains on the ground with the belay partner. The climber will then clip the rope into quickdraws for protection as they climb up the wall.

Both the climber and the belay partner require accreditations before they can access our lead climbing routes.
