Autumn Danga (Dance & Yoga)

October 24 @ 19:30 21:30

“Breathe through your nose. And your feet.” Classic and danced pranayamas

DDANGA (Dance & Yoga) … WHAT IS IT?
An alternative method of teaching yoga developed by Mylène and accredited by the American Yoga Alliance in 2013.
An extroverted way of practicing introspection.
A practice where you think while exercising.
A sense of humor and the sacred at the same table.

DANGA CLASS:
Through multiple musical landscapes, a multi-angle exploration of a central theme using asanas, pranayamas, and danced pranayamas, codified steps and targeted improvisations, sober sounds, and powerful music.
A workshop/lab sprinkled with yogic postures and swept by powerful dance movements. A reflective and dynamic journey where we knead our yoga practice, propelling it between decibels and silence. Constantly at work: A search for freedom through constraints (offered as levers for concentration).

Breathing is nothing less than our connection to life.
It sets the pace for our days, pulsing around 22,000 times daily, in and out… with beneficial reliability, without us even having to pay attention to it*.
And yet, paying attention to it could help us become more acutely aware of how closely breathing and the nervous system are linked.
This workshop will therefore focus on exploring the reciprocal action of breathing on the nervous system and vice versa.

Mechanically, practically, and artistically:
-Initial observation: Personal natural breathing.
-Exercises highlighting various basic functional mechanisms of breathing.
-Practice of various pranayamas (yogic breathing techniques) that can be grounding, calming, or energizing.
-“Dancing” the various breathing techniques. Incarnation of various breaths.
In this autumn workshop, a season known as “Vata” in Ayurveda (ancient Indian medicine), the season of wind, air, and space (ether), we will take care of the “wind” that circulates within us: our breath.
*When we are not suffering from a condition requiring assistance.

Prerequisites: Open-minded individuals who enjoy exploring the connection between body and mind. With a background in yoga and/or the ability to listen to your body when the pace of the class seems too fast or too slow! No dance experience required. We will support you with adaptations to the poses and exercises offered. Welcome!
