At the summit with Bolivia’s cholitas escaladoras talk
October 3 @ 19:30 – 21:00
Screening of the documentary film “Cholitas,” which recounts this group of women’s ascent to the summit of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas. The film will be followed by a conference to discuss the initiative of these guardians of the mountain in greater detail and share Tanya Lecuyer’s experience of climbing Huayna Potosí (6,088 m) alongside them last September.
The Cholitas escaladoras of Bolivia are Aymara women who love high-altitude sports. They have carved out a place for themselves in a predominantly male sector and are following their path as cooks and guides, with the dream of telling their story to the world, inspiring those around them, and training more women to become mountain guides. They carry messages of women’s empowerment and mountain protection to the highest peaks.
Cette activité s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une levée de fonds pour les appuyer: il sera possible de faire un don, et Tanya viendra également avec de l’artisanat qu’elles ont fabriqué qui sera en vente.
