Autumn Danga (Dance & Yoga)
Breathe. Recharge. Find peace.
Traditional and dance-based pranayamas (breathing exercises)
During this fall season, when fatigue, demotivation, and a lack of focus sometimes set in: A workshop designed to support our energy through breathing exercises that are calming, grounding, and invigorating.
We’ll explore several pranayama techniques (yogic breathing exercises), including both traditional forms and dance-inspired variations, as the rhythmic beat guides us (things can get pretty lively at times).
In this fall workshop—a season known as “Vata” in Ayurveda (ancient Indian medicine), the season of wind, air, and space (ether)—we will explore our current personal energy and nurture it through the “wind” that flows within us: our breath.
What is “Danga” (Dance/Yoga)?
*An extroverted way to practice introspection.
*Thinking while being physically active
*A sense of humor and a sense of the sacred go hand in hand.
*For both beginners and experienced practitioners. We adapt the session accordingly.
*
Danga offers an alternative form of physical, energetic, and creative training that combines the grounding, breathing, and “centering” of yoga with the adventurous spirit of dance.
Through a variety of musical landscapes (life is multifaceted: sounds of nature, groove, silence, and decibels), each workshop-lab is guided by the exploration of a theme from multiple angles—in a reflective yet dynamic way—and in contrast to groupthink.
It’s like writing a personal journal with your body. An opportunity to “reflect on yourself” in a different way. Welcome!
Prerequisites: An open mind, and a willingness to explore the dialogue between body and mind. A basic knowledge of yoga and/or the ability to listen to your body when the pace of the class feels too fast or too slow! No dance experience required. We’ll guide you: We’ll adapt the poses and exercises to your needs. Welcome!
